Florida=Heaven

Easton is LOVING Florida! He is so calm and chill. He just sits around and looks. But, as soon as he comes inside, he is awake and starts to fuss. In Ft. Laudedale, at the hotel, we would open the patio door and stick him outside. It was fabulous. Mostly, we spent our days hanging out by the pool. My favorite part was getting morning coffee and hanging out by the beach as the sun came up. He was also very well behaved at dinners. He slept through just about all of them. It was wonderful. Another highlight of the trip was having all the girls around to help. It was so nice to have all the extra hands.

Yesterday, my father-on-law picked me up in Ft. Lauderdale and now I am in Sebring, FL. Now we are staying with Easton's great-grandparents. Easton loves them and all the attention. Jason and his brother brian and his wife are going to be meeting us here on Sunday. I can't wait to see Jason! I bet he misses his baby boy too.

I tried to upload some pictures to show you, but it wasn't working well. So, you will have to wait a little to get the full picture (no pun intended).

2 Months Old & Here we come Florida!

Easton is officially 2 months old! The old cliche holds true, they do grow up fast! At his Doctors appointment he was 13lbs 9oz and 24.5inches (90% for both on the charts). He is my big boy! He is doing better and better everyday. Sometimes if he is fussy, and you put him down, he stops. He just wants some alone time here and there.

Tomorrow morning we leave for Florida. The original plan was to go to FL March 1-5th to see Easton's greatgrandparents, but I need to leave before that. So I am going down with some friends from work. I can't wait to bask in the sun, I mean shade. We all know I am not a sun goddess. And Easton will have to strictly be shade bound being that he can't wear sunscreen yet. Not the best picture, but here he is wearing his beach gear.

So, for now I am coming back on the 26th and then leaving to go back down again on the 1st. Unless, something changes, and then I will just go to the greatgrandparents early!

Did I mention I think I got strep as well. I got started on antibiotics quickly and I am already starting to feel better. Jason got baby duty last night so I could sleep the whole night through. Nature has a cruel way of not letting breastfeeding moms sleep comfortably through the night. I woke up with a wet shirt and a panicking need to feed him. But, I sure do feel rested today!

Take 2

No one likes a post without a picture, so here's Easton in his swing. He loves this thing! He is definitely into movement (except for the car, curiously enough).

This past week has been very trying. Jason got a bad case of strep (I think. We are still waiting for the culture to come back). He finally got on some antibiotics and is just now starting to feel better after an entire week! Poor guy.

So, that left me on baby duty all by myself. I do have to say that Easton gets better everyday. He sits by himself a little bit longer, and falls asleep occasionally by himself. I have come to the realization that I really do need to relax. After reading baby books and all the advice people are constantly offering, it's hard to decide what is right. I am constantly wondering if I am going to set us up for hardship later on if I do something wrong now. For example, I feel like if I don't put him down awake for his nap, then he will never take a nap by himself. Well, there are times that he ABSOLUTELY will not sleep unless you are holding him or swinging in his swing (despite being obviously tired). At this point, I say SCREW IT! Don't get me wrong. I am not going soft, I am just trying to survive.

Even though he is doing a lot better during the day, he is up constantly at night. In an effort to get him to sleep a little longer (like his formula fed pals) I mixed half formula with some breast milk and gave him a bottle on Tuesday night (or at least I think it was Tuesday). Three hours later I went to get him because he was crying and to my surprise he was soaked. I picked him up, and then I became soaked. I then realized the cause of his wetness was throw-up. He kept throwing up (all over me) until it turned into green mucous. (It was very gross.) So, I chalked it up to a post-nasal drip and swallowing phlegm. After a while his stomach did end up calming down and he got back to normal.

Take 2: Lets try the formula/breast milk again. I gave him 3 ounces at 10:30PM last night. At midnight, it ALL came back up over 2 hours. So apparently, it is not a post-nasal drip, it's the formula. This is especially curious because he had been on formula for 36 hours after we came home from the NICU (in an effort to excrete some more bilirubin). So, my efforts left me way more sleepless than it would have if I just would have stuck with the normal routine. I can't win!

On a positive note, I can't wait to go to Florida with some friends from work. They are going to get a good dose of birth control over 4 days. I am just excited to get outside, see the light of day and have 8 extra hands to help out. I am counting down the days!

Here's Gabe!

We put Easton under the Boppy playyard thingy (thanks Becky!). He seemed to like it for a little bit but got cranky tired pretty quickly. That seems to be Easton's attitude lately. He hasn't been feeling well. I have got a bit of a cold, but I feel better now. When I was up with Easton last night at 2AM, Jason comes in and announces that he now is sick. It is going around!

Easton after the superbowl win. He is just a little groggy.

Jason, Easton and I met Gabe the other day. He is the newest edition to the our friend's JC and Kourtney's family. He was born in October. He is one cute little boy!
